Motorcyclists are always looking for an excuse to get out on their bikes and ride and an organised ride for charity always brings riders out in numbers. A few that I regularly attend or have attended are listed here.
Woodville Lions Coast to Coast
This is a yearly charity ride that takes rides from the Himatangi (West Coast of North Island) to either Herbertville or Akitea (East Coast). A round trip from Palmerston North of about 400kms. Charity ride benefits the local rescue helicopter.
Auckland Rescue Helicopter ride
Another Rescue Helicopter ride, this time for Auckland's service. I've been up twice for this one and although the ride is a pretty basic ride up the Auckland Motorway, it does bring out an impressive number of bikes and raise a lot of money for a worthy cause.
Every Christmas there are Toy Runs organised all over the country with bikers donating either toys or cash to either hospitals or other children's charities. I usually get along to about 2 or 3 each year as there are about 4 or 5 within a reasonable distance of me.
